Everything You Need to Know about Living in Salt Lake City

Whether you are a local, living comfortably in your Foothill Place apartments or just visiting for a weekend getaway, Salt Lake City has something to offer everyone. Located above the fault line in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains, Salt Lake offers gorgeous views of the valley and some of the state’s most interesting artistic, cultural, historic, and zoological experiences.

Things to Do in Salt Lake City

Visiting Salt Lake City is comparable to stumbling on a hidden gem. Unless you have been before, or you are a native, it is not a very well-known destination!

City Creek Center is a beautiful open-air shopping mall in the middle of downtown. The City Creek Center is a mixed development with an upscale open-air shopping center, office, and residential buildings, fountain, and simulated creek. It offers a mix of luxury retailers, unique-to-market stores, and trusted brands. Who doesn’t love shopping? Right now, this location offers limited hours due to the pandemic, so be sure to check out their website to stay up to date.

Less than a 10-minute drive outside of the city center, Ensign Peak is a short (0.9-mile out-and-back) trail that lets you see panoramic views of the city. One can take gorgeous and breathtaking pictures of the surrounding mountains and Salt Lake.

Manoli’s is a newer restaurant in SLC. It’s Greek, however not in your usual gigantic gyro sandwich and fries kind-of-way. We’re talking upscale, sophisticated Greek, with intricate, delicately plated meze meant for sharing. Delicious! If you visit, don’t leave without saving room for dessert! Right now, their location is closed, but be sure to visit their website to find out more about take-out and delivery.

If you are a coffee drinker, then this next tip is for you. Eva’s Bakery is a quaint, French-inspired bakery and breakfast place, located on Main Street. Beyond the food, pastries, and bread, they serve up pretty good coffee, too. If you are in the area, this coffee shop is a must.

Although not a typical place one usually thinks about visiting, Salt Lake City has a distinct flavor, while at the same time providing a little something for everyone. If you love the outdoors and nature, coming for the panoramic views is enough reason!

Tips on How to Work From Your Salt Lake City Apartments

Although none of us expected the beginning of 2020 to turn out like this, in times like these, many of us have been forced to do our work from our apartments. In your case, this may be your Salt Lake City apartments which is a wonderful place to get work done, if you do a good job at structuring your day. Working from one’s apartments can be difficult to the most ambitious person, simply because it’s what we’re unfamiliar with.

To help you throughout these times, here are some tips for working from your Salt Lake City apartments:

Tip 1- Make a Clear, Neat Workspace for Yourself: One of the things people get wrong when it comes to working from home is simply laying their laptop out on their bed and expecting themselves to stay motivated. This is not a productive process, because not only does it make you a little lazier while you’re working, but it also confuses your body when it’s time to go to sleep. It’s better to have a clear division of where you WORK and where you SLEEP/RELAX.

Tip 2- Allow Yourself Time for Breaks: We can all benefit from positive reinforcement to keep us motivated throughout the day. That’s why it’s a great idea to take little breaks and get some oxygen flowing through our veins as we go for mini walks throughout the day to stay in the zone.

Tip 3- Stick to a Relatively Normal Schedule: When you work from your apartments, time can feel like it’s dragging on or moving too quickly. You don’t have an accurate perception of time since you’re isolated. Therefore, try maintaining regular hours of work so that you can compartmentalize your day better.

Working from your Salt Lake City apartments may not be easy at first, but hopefully, with some guidance and tips like the few mentioned in this article, it will get easier. Don’t forget, that for most of us, working from home is just temporary and that soon enough, you’ll be in the swing of things again.

When people think about decorating their apartments, they usually focus on sight instead of the other four senses. Why is that? They are a wonderful way to bring some much-needed life and soul into your apartment. And depending on which scent you decide on, it can set the entire ambiance for what you’re trying to go for.

For instance, if you want a scent that’s fragrance will leave you feel refreshed and less anxious, then lavender is a good way to go. Lavender is notorious for having a great impact on one’s mental health and nerves. If you’re looking for something a bit more stimulating, having the smell of a citrus flower can be more beneficial. In fact, if you work from your Salt Lake City apartments, it can be something that helps you get your work done. Finally, if you’re looking for a smell that overpowers all and leaves you with a sense of purity, gardenia might be the best way to go.

When decorating apartments, most people get so fixated on what it looks like that they forget the other senses that truly help create a home. Which fragrant flower will you choose to bring the best out of your Salt Lake City apartments? You’d be surprised in what change of mood and attitude it can bring for you as well.

Go Green in Your Salt Lake City Apartments

Something you should consider doing is going green and making little changes here and there in your routine to assure that you are doing what you can to be environmentally friendly. If you’ve always been passionate about reducing your carbon footprint but just didn’t know how to get started, worry not! Below is a small list of tips you can follow in order to make the most out of your living situation in Salt Lake City and do the most you can for the earth!

1. Make an effort not to make so much trash. This means to use real dishware instead of paper and plastic plates, forks, and spoons. It means being cognizant of how much toilet paper and tissue paper you go through every day. It means using dishtowels you can rewash instead of paper towels to keep the house clean.
2. Another fun way to go green is to get some small pots and begin to grow your own herbs, seasoning, and veggies in your house. This is relatively easy- something you can simply do some research on online or in-person at Home Depot or Lowe’s for you to have these things ready on demand to reduce gas by driving to the store. It’s also just fun and promotes healthy eating.
3. Use less water if possible, even if you cut your shower time by two minutes.
4. Be mindful of how much electricity you use.

The final two tips should help you out when it comes to saving some money on your utility bills. Can you think of other ways to go green in your apartments? Maybe all these tips seem overwhelming- so begin implementing them one at a time. It’s a great way to make a small difference in this world and do your part to help the environment!
